The Contracor Moisture Extraction System is the perfect solution for removing condensate and oil from the air stream during abrasive blast cleaning. The system is designed to efficiently remove up to 95% of condensate and oil, which can cause increased wear and downtime. With the system in place, you can expect increased performance and reduced maintenance costs.
Designed for any type of portable and stationary screw (diesel) compressor. Compressed air flowing out of an diesel compressor has a high temperature up to approximately 90°C. At such a temperature, compressed air contains a large amount of moisture in the form of steam vapour. When an aftercooler and cyclone condensate separator are not used, compressed air can add up to 21 litres of water per hour into the system (with a compressor operating at 5.7 m³/min capacity and a pressure of 7 bar). Contracor MEX systems cool compressed air to a temperature 3-10°C higher than the ambient temperature. Once the air is cooled, vapour moisture condenses and up to 95% of condensed moisture is eliminated from the air stream.
Coalescence element
The compressed air inside the receiver passes through a mesh coalescing filter element. Moisture and oil are deposited on the element and form large drops, which under the action of gravity fall to the bottom.
